Household hazardous wastes are common products found in the home. People usually store these materials for a time and eventually discard the unwanted items and their containers. When household products are used according to label directions, most are not hazardous. They may become hazardous, however, if you use or store them improperly. Environmental problems can also arise if you dispose of products improperly.
DO NOT BURN, BURY, or DUMP these products, (in a yard, toilet or down a storm sewer) and DO NOT MIX leftover products. Chemical containers should not be reused for any other purpose.
Pleasant Prairie residents can dispose of unwanted hazardous waste during fall Hazardous Waste Collection.
