Championship Swim Meet Took Place At RecPlex - Pleasant Prairie Patriots Invite Prospective Swimmers To An Introductory Clinic
Through Sunday, August 5, RecPlex and the Pleasant Prairie Patriots (also known as PX3) hosted the USA Swimming Central Zone Swim Meet and welcomed teams from six Midwestern states. Swimmers and their families traveled to Pleasant Prairie from Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, South Dakota and Wisconsin to compete in the event. USA Swimming, which is the governing body for competitive swimming across the country, is the group responsible for selecting the Olympic swim team as well as other teams that represent the United States. Competitors in the USA Swimming Central Zone Championship were ages 14 and younger and qualified for the competition by meeting high-level entry time standards.
Members of the Patriots (PX3) recently competed in the 12 & Under State Meet held at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center in Brown Deer. Several Patriots swimmers recorded top-10 finishes in various events. Swimmers with top-10 individual finishes were: Pierce Casper, Danielle Gilsovich, Shelby Haines, Aubrey Lonergan, Alla McLaughlin, Cora Shircel, and Harry Smith. Swimmers with top-10 relay finishes included: Danielle Gilsovich, Shelby Haines, Aubrey Lonergan, Alla McLaughlin, Casper Pierce, Zander Randall, Charles Smith, Izzy Sonday, and Evan Weiss. Pleasant Prairie Patriot Coach Adam Socha commented, "We're so proud of our swimmers. These kids have worked so hard this summer to achieve their goals, and we had a great championship meet! Our team members consistently moved up in the rankings throughout the State Meet, and we couldn't be happier!"
"We'd like to engage even more youth whose interest in swimming might be piqued after watching swimming on the Summer Olympics," commented Kevin Milak, Aquatics and Competitive Swim Director at RecPlex. "The sport has so much to offer young people!" During the last two weeks of August, the Patriots invite new or prospective swimmers to learn more about Patriot swimming at their New Swimmer Strokes & Skills Clinic. The clinic is intended to help swimmers refine and improve their stroke technique and skills and to meet Patriot staff. More information about the clinic is available at RecPlexOnline.com or at Patriot-Swimming.com.
