On Monday, April 30, the Pleasant Prairie Plan Commission held a public hearing and considered plans for a new multi-family housing development in the Prairie Ridge Subdivision. A new five-building development has been proposed on approximately 9.8 acres south of Prairie Ridge Boulevard between 91st and 94th Avenues. The development would feature four multi-family apartment buildings, a clubhouse, two ponds with a walking path and some surface level parking.
The current concept, presented by Lexington Homes, Inc. of Green Bay, calls for a clubhouse and two 40-unit two-story buildings (as part of Phase one) and two 48-unit three-story buildings (as part of Phase two). Once complete, the project is proposed to include 72 efficiency units of varying sizes, 68 one-bedroom units, 36 two-bedroom units, underground and surface parking, and storage areas. All units will be leased at market rates; no units will be subsidized. Monthly rents are anticipated to run between $655 and $1400 per unit plus utilities. Approximately 57% of the 9.8 acres is proposed to remain as open space.
During the Monday evening meeting, the Plan Commission approved a conceptual plan and related amendments for the development. The Village Board will consider the plans at a May 7 meeting. If plans are approved, work on the development is expected to begin this July. Full completion of the project is anticipated within two years.
