Following the retirement of former Chief of Police Brian J. Wagner, the Pleasant Prairie Police and Fire Commission has named David Mogensen as Interim Chief of Police. Mogensen will serve as Interim Chief throughout the recruiting and selection process, which could last as long as six months.
Mogensen was hired by the Pleasant Prairie Police Department as a Dispatcher in 1987. He was hired as a Police Officer in 1990, after attending the Police Academy at Milwaukee Area Technical College. Mogensen has subsequently served as Sergeant, second shift Lieutenant Commander, Captain, and most recently, Deputy Chief of Police.
Earlier this year, Chief of Police Brian J. Wagner announced that he would retire on July 1, after 31 years of service with the Pleasant Prairie Police Department. The Village will conduct a national search for a new Chief of Police. An Assessment Panel comprised of other area Police Chiefs will interview top candidates. Top candidates will then be presented to the Police and Fire Commission for their consideration. It is anticipated that a final selection will be made this fall.
"We appreciate Dave's willingness to lead the Department through the selection of a new Chief of Police," commented Carol Willke, Director of Human Resources for Pleasant Prairie. "Dave's guidance will provide continuity for the Department as they continue to provide high quality police services to residents and visitors in Pleasant Prairie."
