A specialized, ceremonial unit of the Police Department, the Pleasant Prairie Police Department Honor Guard is a volunteer unit consisting of seven officers commanded by Lieutenant Paul Marik. The unit was established in 1996 and is responsible for providing a variety of services related to upholding the traditions of the police service and conveying a sense of dignity and respect during solemn occasions and ceremonies.
In Pleasant Prairie, this volunteer unit is responsible for the presentation and preservation of our national, state and local flags on ceremonial occasions at official functions. The unit is also responsible for ceremony preparation and organization of services to department members at the time of due respects. The Honor Guard will present flags at both local events, such as the annual Veterans Day Ceremony, and will provide funeral honors alongside members of other Honor Guard units for fallen comrades in other communities.
As a volunteer unit, the Pleasant Prairie Honor Guard is not supported by property tax dollars. The group is both self funded and relies upon donations from the public to support its efforts to preserve law enforcement traditions.
