Prairie Family Days Will Be Held on Saturday, July 21 Without Fireworks - Prairie Family Days Fireworks Display Has Been Postponed Due to Dry Conditions
Due to unusually dry and unsafe conditions, the Prairie Family Days fireworks display has been postponed until a later date. The future date of the fireworks will be dependent upon receiving ample rain to safely launch the fireworks display.
"While we regret that the conditions won't allow us to proceed with the fireworks display at this time, we'd still love to invite the public out for fun, food, music and more," commented Chris Lopour, Communications Director for the Village. "In addition to several family oriented activities, we'll have over forty craft fair vendors, two live bands, great food vendors, community businesses and charitable organizations joining us this year. We invite everyone out to enjoy some time at Family Days."
Prairie Family Days will take place at a new location inside Prairie Springs Park in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin on Saturday, July 21. This year, the grounds will move lakeside along the west side of RecPlex. Family entertainment planned includes: a kickoff parade; the acrobatic comedian Circus Boy; pontoon boat rides; a craft fair; bingo; live music; food vendors; an open skate in the ice arena followed by a skating exhibition; and a raffle drawing. Activities requiring advance registration include: a youth fishing derby; the Family Days 5K Walk/Run; the Princess Promenade (formerly known as the Princess Parade); and the Miss Pleasant Prairie scholarship pageant.
Visitors are also invited to meet a handful of Pleasant Prairie's businesses in the Made in Pleasant Prairie tent. Visitors can interact with the businesses to learn more about their corporate philosophy, company history and to learn what they make or do in Pleasant Prairie. The live music for 2012 includes the Affordables and Untrained Laymen. Food vendors will be on hand offering specialty menu items, such as funnel cakes, fried cheese curds, barbeque and more. Admission and several activities are free, though certain activities are fee based.
The committee would like to thank all of our generous community sponsors for making Prairie Family Days possible. Visit PrairieFamilyDays.com to help you plan your trip to Prairie Family Days.
