During a January 9 Plan Commission meeting, Site and Operational Plans were approved for Teleflex, a surgical and medical instrument manufacturer. Teleflex has plans to occupy 45,479 square feet of space in the new Towne V Industrial Building at 9505 72nd Avenue. It will manufacture surgical and medical equipment from the location.
Teleflex is headquartered out of Limerick, Pennsylvania and provides medical devices to customers in more than 140 countries throughout the world. The company was originally established in 1943 with a single product, "a multi-strand helical cable and a gear that could convert push-pull motions into rotary motions." Since that time, the company's focus has shifted from engineering to the manufacture of medical devices.
Teleflex will make modifications to the interior and exterior of the building to accommodate their manufacturing needs. The company expects to employ between 36 and 50 full-time employees from the location. Teleflex will operate two eight-hour work shifts Monday through Friday between 5:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.
