On August 25, the Pleasant Prairie Plan Commission approved Site and Operational Plans for a 39,166 square foot expansion at 10100 88th Avenue for Good Foods Group. Good Foods Group is an all-natural food manufacturer of preservative free dips, sides and salads. The company relocated to Pleasant Prairie in early 2013 from Chicago.
Relocating to a 56,430 square foot space in Pleasant Prairie during 2013 offered the company more space over their previous 10,000 square foot facility and additional rented space in Chicago. While planning the move to Pleasant Prairie, the company anticipated employing 50 to 75 employees upon startup with the potential for up to 150 employees within the first five years if the company experienced steady growth.
The current expansion will bring the facility square footage to 95,596 and will accommodate increased production, cold storage and support infrastructure. With the expansion, 125 to 150 full-time and no part-time employees are expected to work from the facility. The company currently employs 85 people over two shifts. The facility operates Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. until midnight. Approximately 20 trucks will enter and leave the site each weekday.
The Penn family founded Good Foods Group in 2007. Good Foods Group makes all natural refrigerated dips, salsas, salads and sides and then uses a high-pressure pasteurization process to preserve the foods naturally. The company distributes its products nationally to retail and food service outlets such as: Costco, BJ’s, Whole Foods, Potbelly’s, Pret-A-Manger, Roti Mediterranean Grill, and Moe’s Southwest Grill. The company anticipates that the expansion will be complete during April of 2015.
