On Tuesday, April 2, Niagara Bottling formally announced plans to construct a new manufacturing facility in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. Niagara plans to purchase approximately 23 acres of land at 11031 88th Avenue to construct a 377, 295 square foot facility.

The facility will be used to manufacture plastic bottles and to bottle water for the Niagara brand and private label customers. Niagara’s facility will be constructed to include one production line in its initial phase with the ability to expand in the future if warranted. The company will become one of the Village’s largest water consumers.

Mike Pollocoff, Village Administrator explained, “Once Niagara is fully operational, the Village’s daily water consumption will nearly double. This should lead to economies for all Village water and waste water customers.” Pollocoff added, “Niagara’s decision to locate here also demonstrates to similar food processing and food manufacturing companies that the Village and Kenosha County offer the right mix of circumstances for companies wishing to locate and grow their business in this part of the country.” Pleasant Prairie was one of multiple locations that Niagara considered throughout southeastern Wisconsin and northeastern Illinois.

The Village expects to consider Niagara’s site and operational plans during May. The company announced its intention to begin work on the facility in 2014, and construction is expected to be complete in early 2015. Niagara has indicated that the initial phase of their facility will employ approximately 70 full-time positions with the potential for future employment to reach 105 full-time positions. Pollocoff added, “Niagara has really been a pleasure to work with as they considered locations in the region. We are incredibly pleased that they selected Pleasant Prairie, and we look forward to welcoming them to our community.”
