This spring and summer, restrooms and an open air pavilion will be constructed near the ball fields on the north side of Prairie Springs Park. The restroom and pavilion design will be structurally similar to the restroom and pavilion currently located on the south side of Lake Andrea. The north ball fields inside Prairie Springs Park are used mainly between early April and mid-November each year for softball, baseball and football practices, games and tournaments.
The project was put out to bid earlier this spring, and bids were opened during late April. In order to keep costs for the project closer to the original project budget, the work will be completed with a combination of outside contractors and Village staff. The 2014 budget allocated $110,000 for the construction of the restroom facilities and $10,000 for the construction of the open air pavilion. The funding will come from impact fees.
Riley Construction will be performing the general trade work related to the restroom facility. Vans Roofing will install a sheet metal roof; and Southport Heating and Plumbing will provide plumbing services. Village staff will perform grading, install a gravel path; paint the facility, and complete electrical work. The project is expected to be complete yet this season.
