Three dates remain for four open-water training swims for the upcoming Iron Girl Pleasant Prairie Triathlon. The training swims will take place in Lake Andrea inside Prairie Springs Park, the host site for the Iron Girl Triathlon.
The swims will take place on Tuesday, August 5 from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 7 from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m., and Saturday, August 9 between 7:00 and 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. and noon. Participants are asked to arrive at least 15 minutes early to register and for the pre-swim briefing. The cost is $15 per person, per swim. RecPlex members receive a $5 discount.
Each training swim will cross Lake Andrea, following the Iron Girl swim course, starting from the beach on the west side of the lake. The distance is approximately ½ mile. Participants have the option of swimming back, for a total distance of 1 mile. Buoys have been placed at ¼ and ½ of the distance across the lake. Lifeguards in kayaks accompany swimmers and carry noodles for those who would like additional assistance. A rescue swimmer also accompanies swimmers making the training run.
The Iron Girl Triathlon will take place on Sunday, August 10. After the Iron Girl Triathlon, lake swims in Lake Andrea will continue on Thursday evenings at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday mornings at 7:00 a.m. through September 11. More information about the training swims is available at RecPlex (9900 Terwall Terrace) or by clicking here. More information is also available via email at [email protected].
