The Pleasant Prairie Professional Police Association would like to express their thanks to those who supported the 9th Annual Pleasant Prairie Shop with a Cop and Firefighter charity event. This event would not be possible without your support.
Shop with a Cop and Firefighter is a way for members of Pleasant Prairie’s Police and Fire & Rescue Departments to help local families who may not otherwise be able to celebrate the holidays in a traditional manner. The event was held on Saturday, December 13. Children from underprivileged families paired off with a Pleasant Prairie Police Officer or Firefighter and selected gifts for their family members.
“This is a great way for kids to interact in a positive way with emergency service professionals in our community,” explained Police Chief David Smetana. “Even more, it ensures that struggling families will be able to share the joy of the holiday spirit. This is a great deal of work each year, and I am proud of the Police Association’s desire to do this on an annual basis.”
The Pleasant Prairie Professional Police Association collects donations in support of the event each year. Members of the department wish to sincerely thank all those who have been so generous in the past with support for this program. Members of the department would also like to thank the volunteers from Great Lakes Naval Base who helped this year’s children wrap the gifts for their family members.
