Thank you to all who joined us for a Tree Dedication Ceremony at Ingram Park on Sunday, August 3. During the ceremony, thirty-five trees were dedicated to the Kenosha County service men who lost their lives in the Vietnam War. Kenosha Area Vietnam Veterans (KAVV) lead the ceremony, which included: opening and closing remarks, the posting of colors, the National anthem, the Pledge of Allegiance, a ceremony address, the reading of names, a POW-MIA table ceremony, a moment of silence, a three-shot volley, and Taps.
KAVV purchased the trees and donated them to the park along with a memorial rock. Sunset Ridge Cemetery has donated a plaque that was affixed to the memorial rock. Kenosha Grounds Care has planted the trees just north of the sledding hill and west of the fishing pond, adjacent to the walkway. A POW-MIA bench is also located adjacent to the walkway, near the trees. The bench was built, installed and painted as part of Dominic Gemignani’s Eagle Scout project coordinated by Pleasant Prairie VFW Post 7308. Ingram Park is located at 5724 93rd Street. For those who would like to pay their respects privately, the park is open from sunrise to sunset.
