All are invited to the LakeView Studio inside RecPlex on Saturday, January 25 for serious winter fun during the annual WinterFest event. WinterFest will feature fun outdoor winter activities for children, adults and families, including: a snowman contest, pond hockey and skating (skaters should bring their own pair of skates, though limited skate rentals will be available for $3 per pair), an ice fishing derby, and a chili cook-off. The event will run from 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Admission to WinterFest is free.
The ice fishing derby will take place on Lake Andrea between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Registrations for the ice fishing derby should be received and paid for by Wednesday, January 22. The entry fee is $20 per person or $30 per family (two adults and three children living in the same household). A responsible adult or guardian must accompany children under 13. Prizes will be awarded for the first, second and third place fish in each category for fish entered between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. Registration forms are available: as a PDF below, at RecPlex, 9900 Terwall Terrace, and online at www.RecPlexOnline.com. Participants can mail their registration and payment or register in person at RecPlex.
Lunch will be served between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and is included in the fishing derby entry fee. Lunch for those who are not fishing will be available for purchase for a $5 fee per person. Lunch includes: chili, hot dogs and more. Beverages are not included.
