he WinterFest event, originally scheduled to take place Saturday, January 25, in Pleasant Prairie has been cancelled due to lack of registration for the event’s main component, the ice fishing derby.
“We regret that we’ll be unable to continue with the event,” commented Carol Willke, Recreation Director for the Village of Pleasant Prairie. “We simply did not have enough interest in the ice fishing component, which has been the main draw for each of the other components. Combined with the lack of packable snow for the snowman building contest, it appears that the conditions will not prove ideal for the event to take place.”
The next family oriented event at Pleasant Prairie RecPlex, the Kids & Family Expo, will take place on March 15. This free, family focused event highlights RecPlex Summer Camps and offers over 75 different family oriented vendors. “Held in the RecPlex fieldhouse, the Kids & Family Expo won’t be as affected by weather conditions as WinterFest,” Willke added. “We’d love to have folks come out and join us at the Expo.”
