2016 ROAD MAINTENANCE AND PAVING PROJECTS IN PLEASANT PRAIRIE
WORK EXPECTED TO TAKE PLACE THIS SUMMER
During late February, Village staff solicited bids for road maintenance and paving projects proposed as part of Pleasant Prairie's 2016 budget. On Monday, March 7, the Village Board approved a contract with Stark Asphalt, Inc. in the amount of $2,532,065.50 to complete ten paving projects throughout the Village.
Ultrathin overlays will be completed: in Hidden Oaks (off of Highway H); along Terwall Terrace; and in the Meadowlands subdivision (off of Highway 165). A portion of the asphalt in the Meadowlands will be pulverized and re-laid. The intersection of Springbrook Road and 93rd Street will be reconstructed with replacement curb and improvements to the intersection geometry.
A driveway will be graded and paved for the relocation of the Village Compost Site later in 2016. Two tennis courts and one basketball court will be constructed at Village Green Park; and two tennis courts and one basketball court will be constructed at Pleasant Prairie Park. Mass grading and underground utilities will be completed to extend Cooper Road between the Village Green Heights and Devonshire subdivisions. And the extension of Cooper Road will then be paved.
While paving for a future compost site is expected to take place in May, the remaining 2016 paving projects are expected to take place over the summer months and to be complete during the fall. This is a change from a previous report that indicated the work would begin in April.
The projects will be funded through a combination of sources, including: Pleasant Prairie's general fund budget, enterprise fund budgets, and impact fees. The Village will also receive $29,742 through Wisconsin's Local Roads Improvement Program to perform work in the Rolling Meadows area.
