PLEASANT PRAIRIE'S COMPOST SITE OPENS AT NEW LOCATION ON MONDAY, JUNE 6
The Village of Pleasant Prairie's Compost Site at 8600 Green Bay Road will close at the end of business on Saturday, June 4 and will reopen at a new location, 8000 128th Street (Russell Road), on Monday, June 6 at 9:00 a.m. The new Compost Site will offer the same services to Village residents as the current site. The hours will remain the same as well: Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
The Compost Site is being relocated to accommodate the construction of an additional storage building at the Prange Municipal Center. The new storage building will house equipment and vehicles that are currently being stored outside due to lack of space in the existing covered storage buildings. The storage facility will be heated to 50 degrees during the winter months to keep the mechanical components of the larger equipment, such as snowplows, from freezing in order to improve their performance and prolong the life of the equipment.
Relocating the site will also offer a cost savings that will partially offset a decrease in grant funding from the State for recycling and hazardous waste elimination programs. The move will eliminate transportation costs for moving compost material and will improve the site's efficiency for staff and residents.
