On April 27, emergency responders were called to assist a 67-year-old patient who was having seizures. Upon arrival, responders found that the patient was in cardiac arrest. The team quickly initiated both Basic and Advanced Life Support treatments to successfully resuscitate the patient at the scene. The team of responders continued aggressive treatment as the patient was transferred to Aurora Medical Center staff who continued lifesaving efforts. The patient was successfully resuscitated and discharged from the medical center at a later date.
"The situation demonstrated the importance of training, equipment, and teamwork," explained Chief of Fire & Rescue Doug McElmury. "I'm both incredibly proud of and humbled by the response these members of the department provided."
United Hospital System awarded commendations to Alan Cloherty, Dean Holloway, Michael Passafaro, Adam Craig, and Lieutenant Kevin Mattison. The Village Board wishes to publicly express their gratitude to these five members of Pleasant Prairie Fire & Rescue for their heroic actions.
