STUDENTS FORM LAKEVIEW TECHNOLOGY ACADEMY USE ROUGH FRAMING SKILLS TO BUILD NEW COMPOST SHED FOR VILLAGE
Students from LakeView Technology Academy in Pleasant Prairie recently completed rough framing for a new compost shed/shelter that will be used at Pleasant Prairie's compost site. The shelter will be put into use late in 2016 when the Village relocates the compost site (click here to learn more). KUSD Technology and Engineering Education Instructor Eric Sutkay guided 23 students through the process as they gained first hand experience in project planning, management, and construction.
Materials for this project were provided by the Village. They were purchased with a rebate earned from a previous Village purchase, construction materials for a pedestrian bridge over the Des Plaines River. Several years ago, the first phase of the bridge over the Des Plaines River inside Prairie Springs Park was constructed. Work on the project has been ongoing as funds have been available. The bridge is expected to be completed early this year.
The Village would like to thank the students and instructional staff at LakeView Technology Academy for helping to construct the compost shed/shelter. We truly appreciate their work.
