TEMPORARY STOP SIGNS INSTALLED AT HIGHWAY 165 AND SHERIDAN ROAD
Drivers Asked to Use Extreme Caution at Intersection
Work at the intersection of Sheridan Road and Highway 165, related to a water main project, has required the installation of temporary stop signs at the intersection. The placement of construction equipment necessary to complete the project obstructs the view of traffic for vehicles turning from Highway 165 onto Sheridan Road, thus creating the need for the temporary stop signs.
Work to install the temporary four-way stop took place during the week of June 6. The temporary stop signs are expected to be in place for approximately eight weeks, until work at the intersection is complete.
Because drivers are not accustomed to stopping on Sheridan Road at this intersection, those driving through the area urged to use extreme caution when navigating the temporary four-way stop.
"Please do not assume that all vehicles driving Sheridan Road will stop for these temporary stop signs," urged Public Works Director John Steinbrink Jr. "Drivers on Sheridan Road are traveling at higher speeds and are not accustomed to stopping there. Unless they are paying close attention, there may be drivers who do not initially stop for the signs." Steinbrink added, "These are temporary stop signs that will be removed upon the project's completion."
Crews will be working alongside and under the roads and road right-of-ways. The Village asks travelers to please use care and exercise patience when traveling through the project area. Please abide by traffic control signs, barricades, and flaggers. Traffic patrols in the area will also be increased.
