RECPLEX TO HOST THE DISCOVERY WALK, ROLL & RUN 5K ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 24 TO RAISE AWARENESS FOR SPECIAL NEEDS ATHLETES
Walkers and runners of all ages and abilities are invited to take part in the Discovery Walk, Roll & Run 5K on Saturday, September 24, 2016 inside Prairie Springs Park. The event will take place along the shores of Lake Andrea and will begin at the Wruck Beach Pavilion on the west side of the park.
The Discovery Walk, Roll & Run 5K aims to promote awareness and support for all athletes regardless of their ability and to raise funds for Therapeutic Recreation Program for special needs individuals at RecPlex. Registered athletes will receive an event t-shirt and goody bag.
Race day registration and packet pick-up begin at 7:30 a.m. the day of the race, while the 5K will begin at 9:00 a.m. The registration fee for the event is $35 per person or $100 per family of four. Pre-registration is currently underway at RecPlex (9900 Terwall Terrace) or at www.RecPlexOnline.com.
"We'd love for the community to come out and support all of our athletes regardless of their ability," commented Erin Winch, Director of Therapeutic Recreation for Pleasant Prairie. "It's our second year for the Discovery Walk, Roll & Run 5K, and we're expecting to have an amazing race this year."
