Maker Faire
Posted on 08/16/2017

A Maker Faire is a community based learning event that brings tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, students and entrepreneurs together to show their projects and talk about what they’ve learned. The event is meant to inspire everyone to become a maker and connect people with projects in their local community.

The Maker Faire is an exhibition with opportunities for hands on and do-it yourself interactions. The goal is to create an environment for the sharing of ideas, the growth of entrepreneurship, and the strengthening of the innovative cultures within area families, businesses and educational institutions.

There are a number of ways that you can get involved in the upcoming Pleasant Prairie Mini Maker Faire. Makers, tinkerers, creators, inventors, and builders...this is your chance to showcase your creativity. It is free to exhibit. If you wish to sell what you make, the commercial maker fee is $50. Visit the Maker Faire website to complete an application.

Several sponsorship packages are available to appeal to both small and large organizations that want to network and connect with over 1,000 individuals who are inspired by invention and creativity. Introduce your business and develop new leads.

Individuals and groups are welcome to participate by helping with set-up, event activities, and tear down. Middle school and high school youth needing credit for volunteer hours are encouraged to sign-up. If you have a passion for the maker movement and would like to be involved in the planning process, you are welcome to participate in the next Mini Maker Faire committee meeting on Tuesday, August 29 from 5:15 until 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Village Hall Auditorium at 9915 39th Avenue.
