    PLEASANT PRAIRIE MUNICIPAL COURT "STATE OF EMERGENCY REVISED PROCEDURES IN EFFECT FROM MARCH 26, 2020 THROUGH APRIL 24, 2020 BY ORDER OF MUNICIPAL JUDGE RICHARD GINKOWSKI

    Pretrial conference on March 26 or April 16, 2020
    It is being rescheduled to May 21, 2020 with a notice to be mailed to you. In the interim attorneys may contact the village prosecutor directly to discuss cases. For attorneys, April 16, 2020 pretrials will be by phone/E-mail.

    Court appearance on April 1, 8 or 22, 2020
    Your case is being rescheduled to April 29, 2020. A notice of the new hearing will be mailed to you.

    Court appearance on April 15, 2020
    Trials for April 15, 2020 will be rescheduled with notice to be sent except that "one witness" trials will remain on the calendar but  defendants  will  be notified to appear by telephone. {The prosecutor, witness and judge will have approximately 20 feet of separation in the courtroom.) Any other scheduled hearings may be handled by telephone or rescheduled.

    Citation for failing to carry and exhibit a driver's license [343.18(1)] or no proof of insurance [344.62(2)] and had a valid license or insurance at the time of the alleged violation
    You are excused from appearing in court by mailing (9915 39th Avenue, Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158) or E-mailing (court@plprairie.com) a copy of your citation and proof of your valid license or insurance to the court. You will be notified either that the citation was dismissed or you will need to appear at a later date.

    Citation and wish to plead "not guilty"
    You  are  excused  from  appearing  in  court  by  mailing  (9915  39th Avenue, Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158) or E-mailing (court@plprairie.com) your plea of not guilty and a copy of the citation or the citation number before your court appearance. You will be notified of the time and date of a pretrial conference.

    Citation and wish to pay it or wish to plead guilty or no contest but can't pay at this time
    Payments  may  be  made  by  mail  (9915  39t h     Avenue,  Pleasant  Prairie,  WI 53158) or with a credit card by telephone [(844) 399-5255] or online (https://client.pointandpay.net/web/VillageofPleasantPrairieMunicipalCourt). Payments may also be placed in the village hall "drop box." If you wish to plead guilty or no contest but cannot pay at this time you may mail, fax or E- mail the court (see below). You will be given 60 days to pay. You may ask for additional time if needed.

    Document to file or other business with the municipal court not mentioned above

    The court can be reached by phone (262-694-8923), fax (262-694-1401) or online (court@plprairie.com). Documents may be faxed or scanned and E- mailed, placed in the village hall "drop box" or mailed to the court (9915 39th Avenue, Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158).

    Missed court appearance
    You were probably found guilty by default and a statement was  mailed  to you. If you want the court to reopen your case you may mail, fax or E-mail your request (see above). Unless you missed a trial or evidentiary hearing the request will be summarily granted without a court hearing if received within 21 days of the missed appearance.

    These temporary procedures are intended to minimize personal contact and potential spread  of infectious disease. During the emergency period ordered by the Governor until April 24, 2020 the Court encourages  the use of audiovisual or alternate means ,of transacting  business and will attempt to make reasonable accommodations upon request. Anyone who wishes to appear by audiovisual means should make his or her request prior to the hearing.
