2025 Sewer Utility Budget with Rate Adjustments
Posted on 12/23/2024
The Pleasant Prairie Village Board approved the proposed 2025 Sewer Utility Budget during its meeting on Monday, December 23, 2024. The budget, which includes operating expenses, capital plans, and cash flow projections, reflects the Village's ongoing commitment to maintaining the integrity and sustainability of its sewer services.

As part of the budget, the Pleasant Prairie Sewer Utility will adjust its rates to reflect the increased treatment rates from the Kenosha Water Utility (KWU). KWU has implemented rate hikes for 2023 and 2024, with additional increases scheduled for 2025 through 2027. The rate adjustments will result in a 27.75% increase in flow rates and a rise in surcharges for Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Total Suspended Solids (SS), and Phosphorus, ranging from 35.75% to 71.81%.

These increases will be passed on to customers as part of the 2025 Sewer Utility Budget. For the average residential customer, this adjustment will translate into a rate increase of approximately 14.79% or an additional $4.74 to $6.06 monthly.

The Village remains dedicated to managing its utility costs effectively while continuing to provide reliable sewer services to its residents and businesses.
