Public Open House for New Fire Station No. 3
The Pleasant Prairie Fire & Rescue Department invites the community to an Open House at the newly constructed Fire Station No. 3. The event will take place on Saturday, August 24, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 10165 Terwall Terrace, located at the corner of State Trunk Highway 165 (104th Street) and Terwall Terrace. Residents and visitors can tour the new Fire & Rescue facility, meet public safety personnel, interact with fire trucks, and learn about the rescue equipment.
The new Fire Station No. 3 spans approximately 21,350 square feet and includes eight dorm rooms, a drive-thru four-door apparatus bay, a day room, and a training room. The station can house up to eight full-time employees and has room for administrative staff. The facility design resembles Fire Station No. 1 and features stone, brick, and metal roofing. It also incorporates energy-saving components such as a solar panel system.
Planning for Fire Station No. 3 began in 1999. The Village’s Insurance Services Office (ISO) rating, which evaluates the effectiveness of fire protection on a scale from 1 to 10, scored the Village at 2.74 in 2015 and 3.76 in 2020, indicating the need for an additional station. A 2019 fire study also confirmed the need for a third fire station.
The Plan Commission approved the construction of Fire Station No. 3 in December 2022, followed by contract approval from the Village Board in January 2023. The Village broke ground on the development in May 2023 and recently completed construction in August 2024 with the arrival and installation of a natural gas generator that took over a year and a half to receive. The new facility is designed to enhance Pleasant Prairie’s emergency response capabilities and will serve as the headquarters for the Fire & Rescue Department, supporting Fire Stations No. 1 and No. 2 in handling calls.
The Open House for Fire Station No. 3 will allow guests to see the modern facility and equipment that enhances the department’s ability to serve the community. This event also provides an educational opportunity for families to ask questions and learn about fire prevention and safety measures.
