The Village of Pleasant Prairie is proud to introduce the RecPlex Everyone Plays Scholarship, offering access to quality summer recreation and sports activities for individuals facing financial hardship. Made possible through a corporate sponsorship from HARIBO of America awarded to RecPlex in 2020, this initiative aims to allocate funds for scholarships to support those in need.
"At RecPlex, we believe everyone should have access to quality recreation," stated Sandy Wiedmeyer, Operations Superintendent at Pleasant Prairie RecPlex. "The Everyone Plays Scholarship seeks to remove financial barriers, assisting in various programs including swim lessons, ice skating, hockey, baseball, soccer, and more."
Eligibility for the scholarship requires applicants to be residents of Kenosha County or Lake County, aged 17 or younger, and to provide written documentation demonstrating financial hardship. The scholarships cover a range of recreational and introductory programs, such as youth sports leagues, swim lessons, and youth fitness classes. Each scholarship will cover up to $150 per applicant, with individuals eligible for one yearly scholarship. Program sessions take place at RecPlex, with dates varying. Visit
RecPlexOnline.com for program details.
Currently, 35 scholarships are available, with applications submitted in March being considered. Interested individuals can apply for a programming scholarship at
RecPlexOnline.com/Forms under scholarship applications. Applicants must complete all necessary fields in the online application and submit the form for consideration. RecPlex staff will review the information upon receipt of an application and follow up on any required documentation. Processing applications may take two to three weeks. RecPlex will continue to award programming scholarships as funds allow.
