On Monday Aug. 14, 2017 at approximately 4:45 pm, a Pleasant Prairie Police officer approached a vehicle during a traffic stop in the 8300 block of 82nd Avenue. While speaking with the female driver she advised the officer that the male passenger accompanying her had been poisoned. The officer immediately requested that a Pleasant Prairie Rescue unit respond to the scene. The operator became agitated and drove away from the scene of the traffic stop, with the officer in pursuit. The suspect vehicle drove through the construction zone on Hwy H and Bain Station Road and fled eastbound at a high rate of speed. The officer terminated the pursuit due to safety concerns within the construction zone.

A second Pleasant Prairie police officer continued the pursuit after the fleeing vehicle exited the construction zone, still traveling eastbound on Bain Station Road. Later in the pursuit, the suspect vehicle entered the northbound lanes of traffic at Hwy 31, and continued on while pursued by two Pleasant Prairie police squads. The suspect's vehicle sideswiped another northbound vehicle at the intersection of 79th Street and Hwy 31 and proceeded with heavy damage on the driver's side of her vehicle.

Officers, believing that the passenger had been poisoned, continued the pursuit into Kenosha and were able to direct the fleeing vehicle into a parking lot in the 6600 block of Hwy 31. The driver was then taken into custody. The male passenger was taken to St. Catherine's Medical Center via Kenosha Fire and Rescue for a suspected drug overdose. He was later arrested for Obstructing because he supplied officers with a false identification at the hospital. He has been identified as 30 year old Ryan A. Niday of New Lisbon, Wis.

The female operator, 30 year old Samantha Marie White of Richland Center, Wis., was arrested and later charged with 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Fleeing and Eluding an Officer, Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
