Animal Treatment Investigation

Animal Treatment Investigation
Posted on 08/05/2021
On August 3, 2021, Pleasant Prairie Police Officers were called to an address in the Village regarding problems between neighbors. During the call, a neighbor notified officers that two horses appeared to be emaciated and needed medical attention.

Police officers met with the horse’s owners and inspected the property. Officers noted that the two horses on the property appeared to be very thin. A further examination by the officers indicated that the animal owners provided food, water, and shelter to the horses. In addition, the officers reported that the horses appeared to be of advanced age.

Pleasant Prairie Police, with the assistance of the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office Humane Officer, conducted an additional follow-up visit to the site on August 4, 2021. The visit found that the animal’s owners had already arranged with a local animal care provider, Solstice Sanctuary, to transfer and surrender the horses to the sanctuary’s care. Removal of the horses was ongoing at that time.

The investigation is ongoing, and the former owners of the horses are cooperating fully. Anyone wishing to assist the animal rescue facility with resources for the care of the horses may contact them at [email protected].
