Due to Kenosha County District Attorney’s announcement yesterday, the Twelfth Night Holiday Tree Bonfire scheduled for tonight, January 6, 2021, has been canceled. Keeping public safety in mind and out of an abundance of caution, the three organizations that host the Twelfth Night (Village of Pleasant Prairie, Pleasant Prairie Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Pleasant Prairie Historical Society) fully supported the decision to cancel the event. The Twelfth Night event will return in 2022.
Pleasant Prairie adopted the Twelfth Night tradition in 1980 and continued the event for 13 consecutive years, ending in 1993. The tradition was renewed in 2020. The Village utilizes the occasion to dispose of dried holiday trees. Due to the Twelfth Night's cancellation, all holiday trees donated to the Twelfth Night will be chipped into mulch and used throughout the Village. The Village looks forward to seeing guests return in January 2022.
