Local Youth Dedicate Time and Talents to Complete Community Projects

FIRE PIT CONSTRUCTED IN PRAIRIE SPRINGS PARK
Recently, a new fire pit was constructed on the northwest side of Lake Andrea inside Prairie Springs Park. As a member of Boy Scout Pack 570, Ben Coopland had used the fire pit at Lake Andrea before and wanted to make it better. Ben selected the fire pit as his Eagle Scout project.

Ben drafted plans, created a budget, sought funding, and recruited volunteers from Boy Scout Troop 505 for the project. When asked how he felt about the end result, Ben replied that it "turned out great.' Following its construction, a group of about 80 people used the new pit. "There was a grill placed on top, and it fit all of the hot dogs.'

MAINTENANCE PERFORMED AT COUNTY CEMETERY ON HIGHWAY H
As part of his own Eagle Scout project, Richard Lebbin chose to perform maintenance at a county cemetery on Highway H. Richard had passed the cemetery many times on his way to and from LakeView Technology Academy. He laid out a plan and secured supplies, tools, and volunteers. Volunteers from the community and Troop 505 reset and scrubbed headstones, filled in depressions with topsoil, and mounted a new sign created for the cemetery.

FOOTBALL TEAM BUILDS PLAYGROUND IN PRAIRIE SPRINGS PARK
For the second time in two years, members of the Tremper Trojans high school football team volunteered their time to build a community playground in Pleasant Prairie. Roughly one year ago, the team constructed a playground at Pleasant Prairie Park. More recently, the team pitched in to build another between two ball fields on the north side of Lake Andrea inside Prairie Springs Park.

"These youth are a shining example of community involvement,' commented Mike Pollocoff, Village Administrator. "It's inspiring to see young people put so much energy back into their community. We'd like to thank them very much for their hard work and for the great example they've set."
