Suspect Wanted for Questioning Arrested in Cornfield
Posted on 09/10/2017

On Saturday, September 9, 2017, at approximately 1:00 PM, Pleasant Prairie Police officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of 104th Street for a fight between a woman and her boyfriend. Before officers arrived, the suspect, later identified as 26 year old Marteese L. Gaither of Pleasant Prairie, fled the scene on foot.

Gaither, who is also on GPS monitoring through the Wisconsin Department of Corrections (DOC), was determined to be near an area farm field close to a tree line just northwest of the intersection of STH 165 / 104th Street and STH 32 / Sheridan Road. A perimeter was set up around the field, and Pleasant Prairie officers, including PPPD K9 Officer Beaumier and his partner Echo, methodically searched the area. As Gaither moved his location, Wisconsin DOC was able to update his location which greatly assisted in the search.

Gaither was located in a tree line approximately 100 yards from the roadway and taken into custody without incident, and without injuries to him or Pleasant Prairie officers. Gaither was charged with Battery/ Domestic Violent, Disorderly Conduct/ Domestic Violence, Obstructing Officer, and was also held on a hold from Wisconsin DOC.

“We had a very good perimeter set up, however I cannot convey how important it was to have the Wisconsin Department of Corrections provide us with updated GPS information as officers searched through these wooded areas.” said Lt Randy Myles.
