The Village of Pleasant Prairie seeks interested residents of all ages, backgrounds, business owners, commercial property owners, and community organizations to participate on a number of subcommittees that will develop new ideas and concepts for not only the undeveloped 72 acres that is owned by the Village (along Springbrook Road), but also for the remaining available land in the Village Green Center.
Details of project and community engagement process will be presented at a Community Kick-Off gathering on Thursday, January 17, from 5:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. in the LakeView Studio located at RecPlex (9900 Terwall Terrace). The evening will start with a social hour from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with refreshments provided. An introduction to the project, its goals, and community driven engagement process will begin at 6:00 p.m. The evening concludes with committee participation sign-up.
“I am certain this will be an inspiring process, and am excited to see the community come together to shape the future of Pleasant Prairie,” said Nathan Thiel, Village Administrator.
All interested residents are encouraged to attend and learn how their interests, knowledge, and talents will contribute to the development of a thriving downtown district. The community-driven subcommittee’s ideas become the basis of a wide variety of development recommendations including housing options, business development, park and recreation amenities, and public and civic facilities. Other areas of focus include environment-friendly solutions, project marketing, and the downtown’s aesthetics, character, branding and themes. More information about each subcommittee can be found
here.
“The Village is excited to resume the Village Green Center development project,” stated Assistant Village Administrator, Tom Shircel, “I know that there is an abundance of talented people in Pleasant Prairie and I am looking forward to seeing the individual and collective skills that the residents, business owners, commercial property owners, and community organizations possess and then seeing those talents assembled and contributed to this Community Collaboration process. I anticipate seeing participant’s talents come forth in the creation of new, fresh, and innovative ideas for the development of the Village Green Center. I believe that the Village Green Center will give Pleasant Prairie the long-awaited community gathering place and ‘downtown’ identity.”
